    How it works

Three steps to a clean European Union renewal.

    1

    Diary and reminders

We set up the renewal diary the moment we take on the matter, and send you reminders 12 months, 6 months, and 30 days before the European Union renewal deadline.

    2

    Draft and file

Inside the EUIPO filing window, our EU representative drafts and files the renewal, paying the government fee from your retainer or on your authorisation.

    3

    Confirmation and next-cycle diary

Once the EUIPO confirms the renewal, we deliver the renewal certificate to your client portal and set the diary for the next renewal cycle.

    What's included

Every European Union renewal we file.

An EUTM renewal at the EUIPO is one of the simplest renewal procedures globally, no use declaration, no specimens, just the renewal fee filed online before the 10-year anniversary of the filing date. The registration remains in force across all 27 EU member states.

    • EUTM renewal filed via EUIPO eFiling before the 10-year anniversary
    • EUIPO correspondence handled by a registered EU trade mark attorney
    • Renewal diary set up for the next 10-year cycle
    • Optional goods-and-services audit before renewal. Narrow or maintain spec
    • 1 year of post-renewal attorney representation included

    Why timing matters

Why European Union renewal timing matters.

Registration-based, no use declaration required at renewal

The EUTM is one of the most cost-effective trademark assets to maintain, €850 for the first class covers all 27 EU member states. Missing the deadline costs the 25% surcharge in the 6-month grace window, or a full new application if you miss that too.

Grace period exists, but it costs

EUIPO allows 6-month grace period after expiry with 25% surcharge, but the surcharge is real money, and the registration is technically lapsed during that window. Better to file in the standard window.

    Missed renewal = lost mark

If the European Union grace period also lapses, the mark is cancelled and the date you lose. Any third party can register the same mark from the day after, including in jurisdictions where squatting is endemic.

    How long

From filing to renewed, with the EUIPO.

Send us your European Union registration number and an attorney confirms your next renewal deadline before any work, or any payment. Begins.

    1. 6–12 months before

      We diary and file

We file your EUIPO renewal inside the standard pre-expiry window, well before the deadline.

    2. At the deadline

      Renewed for the next term

The EUIPO records the renewal and your registration continues without a gap in protection.

    3. If you run late

      Grace period, not a plan

Most registries allow a short grace period after the deadline, with a surcharge and a lapsed registration in the meantime. We aim to file well before it.

    4. Ongoing

      Next cycle tracked

We diary the next renewal and any mid-term use declaration, so your protection never lapses by surprise.

European Union renewal questions, answered straight

    Frequently asked questions

The optimal window is within the EUIPO's standard pre-expiry filing window. We typically file 6-12 months before the deadline. 6-month grace period after expiry with 25% surcharge is a fallback, not a strategy.
