An EU trademark is a single registration valid in every member state. New members are covered automatically.

One earlier right in any single member state can block the whole application. That is why the free check searches the EU register and the national ones.

File with goods from the EUIPO's harmonised list and pay at filing, and the EUIPO publishes within weeks. With no opposition, registration follows in about four months.

A three-month opposition window
After publication, anyone with an earlier right has three months to object. We watch the window and tell you the moment anything is filed.

Filing from outside the EEA
The EUIPO requires a professional representative for applicants based outside the EEA. Your GTC attorney is one, so there is nothing extra to arrange.

The UK is separate
Since Brexit an EU trademark no longer covers the United Kingdom. If you sell there too, we file a UK application alongside it.

Our attorney fee is $270 for the first class and $85 for each additional class. EUIPO government fees depend on the number of classes and are shown separately, together with the processing fee. Your written quote confirms the total before you accept and pay.
All 27 EU member states from a single registration, plus any country that later joins the EU. One filing, one certificate, one renewal across the single market.
No. Non-EU applicants file through a representative admitted before the EUIPO. Your EU-qualified attorney acts as that representative as part of the service fee, so you are covered from day one wherever you are based.
Since 1 January 2021, new EU trademarks no longer cover the United Kingdom. Marks registered before then were cloned into UK rights automatically. For UK protection now, we file a parallel UK application for full European coverage.
After publication, anyone with an earlier right has three months to oppose. If they do, the parties get a cooling-off period to negotiate, and the EUIPO decides if it is not resolved. Your attorney watches the window and can represent you throughout. Opposition defense is quoted upfront before any work begins.
An EU trademark lasts 10 years and renews indefinitely in 10-year terms. You must put the mark to genuine use in the EU within 5 years, or it can be revoked on challenge. We track both the renewal and the use deadline for you.
