Filing in Hong Kong

A CNIPA registration covers mainland China only. Hong Kong has its own register, its own examiners, and its own opposition system. Brands serious about the Hong Kong market need a separate Hong Kong filing.
You cannot designate Hong Kong through a Madrid international application. The only route is a direct national filing with the IPD.
Hong Kong operates first-to-file under the Trade Marks Ordinance. Examination is rigorous in both English and Traditional Chinese.
